Getting a Scholarship

Hey there again. Its really been awhile.
You would roughly know by now what I'm gonna be writing today based on my title.
YASSS I GOT A SCHOLARSHIP!

For those who've known me for awhile now would know that getting a scholarship has been what I aim for in the study years.
It wasn't my initial intention, more like what my mom wanted me to achieve.
Slowly after years of having the thought of doing it for my parents, I started to feel that it was more like doing it for myself.
My mom started to gave me the idea of scholarship ever since I was 12,
it was from UPSR to PMR to SPM then STPM, she never fail to make sure I acknowledge it.
But the thing is,
I've never understand the reason of putting me through all of these until the day when my result didn't allow me to get into a private college.
That's when I knew I screwed up.
I had to proceed my studies through the hard way by getting into STPM.
Felt like I was falling apart in the first semester as I had no idea how to study for it and the syllabus was way over my ability.
I kinda gave up mid way,
tried to avoid school with whatever excuses I could give my parents and school to a point I almost got a warning letter.
It was until the second semester when I got my result, I actually manage to scrape through my final exam.
That's when I felt like I'm able to do better and eventually score.
I started studying really hard for the next 2 semesters,
scored really well for my second semester and got my grades shooting up the scale.

As much as I had the confidence that I would score well as long as I really work hard, I was dead nervous at the same time.
It was all the way till results day, I got a pretty good result but tbh it still didn't meet my expectation.
I used the result I got to apply for scholarship.
At first I was really lazy to apply many so I just aimed for the ones that I wanna get.
My mom scolded me for being picky and told me that I shouldn't be so confident that I will get offered from the one I applied for.
So I applied for whichever that I was qualified for.
It was a lot of trips to the Pos office to get all the forms submitted.
2 weeks later, I got an interview letter from The Star for Sunway University.
It was a week after I came back from Korea.
Took a day off from work and went to Sunway University for the interview.
I had a really interesting encounter during the interview.
As my parents went to KL for a meeting, they could fetch me back to Melaka right after the interview.
So I went for the interview with a hand luggage bag, the interviewers made fun of me HAHA!
Interviewers: Where are you going after this?
Me: Going back to Melaka.
Interviewers: Ah we were even wondering how many documents this girl brought for us! A luggage of documents?
All of us burst into laughter.
It started very cheerfully that's why the interview didn't feel like one to me.
It was a comfortable one instead, we talked a lot.
From the common personal questions to work.
It ended up to be longer interview than the rest.

I was very furious if I would get the offer.
I couldn't sleep well for the whole week after the interview hoping I would get a phone call or an email anytime.
Just when I sort of prepared for the worst,
I woke up to a phone call on a Friday, which is exactly a week right after the interview.
The Star called me up saying I GOT THE SCHOLARSHIP OFFER!
I was so freaking happy I felt so surreal!
So now here I am, finished my first semester in Sunway University and waiting for second semester to start.
Never have I ever thought I would have a day like this too.
I'm really thankful for those who have been walking through this journey with me (you know who you are ❤).
Part of me still find this surreal until today even tho its been 6 months knowing this.
Its a stepping stone for me, and I'll continue to work hard on this.
Also, thank you @thestaronline for making this happen.
It's truly a blessing.
(Spot me at 1:45 )
Also, Happy New Year in advance!!
Till next time,
Lots of love. x
